Did you know… In Blue Mountain Regulatory Asset Manager, a very powerful record exists. It humbly stands between your asset and work record. Being a humble record, it often has a simple appearance, yet its Edit Mode “View” menu holds power sure to make your heart rate begin a joyful increase. Please put an Event Record in Edit Mode and explore its “View” menu with me.
Click “Show Assets Using”. A Blue Mountain RAM Event Record can be “Shared” among many assets requiring a same event (for example: all thermometers require a temperature calibration), or it can be “Private” to one specific asset requiring a specific calibration. The “Show Assets Using” window provides a list of all assets utilizing the event, whether it is one asset or many. Before editing a shared event, consult this list to know which assets will be affected by the edit.
Click “Work Plan Templates”. Select or create a Work Plan Template (WPT) to apply. The purpose of the WPT is to document and control the content and quality of work performed. A set of steps is provided for staff to follow. Steps can be required to advance, have enforced precedence, demand fulfillment of criteria, and/or require signature. The number of steps is unlimited, multiple WPT’s can be assigned to a single event, and one WPT can be utilized by unlimited event records. WPT data is automatically copied onto each of the referencing event’s new work records. On the work record, select “Work Plan” from the View menu. Users open the listed work plan, perform its steps as indicated, enter their results, and do sign-offs as required.
Click “Labor”. Select labor crafts needed for the job. The purpose of the labor feature is to plan what crafts and hours are needed for an event. Planned labor data is automatically copied from a referencing event onto each new related work record. On the work record, select “Labor” from the View menu. A “Planned Labor” tab holds the data copied from the event record, and an “Actual Labor” tab is provided to document labor truly utilized. The two tabs enable a comparison of “planned” to “actual”, which can be helpful in evaluating efficiency and resources.
Click “Parts”. Select inventory parts needed for the job. The parts feature will list counts of parts needed for a job. Parts data is automatically copied onto each new work record related to the event. On the work record, select “Parts” from the View menu. The copied data is placed on a “Planned Parts” tab and an “Actual Parts” tab documents parts truly consumed. The two tabs enable a comparison of planned to actual. The Inventory Feature automatically reduces a part’s “on hand” count when that part and a quantity is listed in a work record’s “Actual Parts” data. This equates to the part being consumed.
The power of planning what is needed for a job becomes even more powerful when that planning is done on Shared Events. Each asset that attaches one of these power-lifter events also gains all WPT, Labor, and Parts planning done on that event. This is a huge timesaver.
