World Metrology Day

May 20th marks World Metrology Day for 2012. This year’s theme – We Measure Your Safety – is something everyone can relate to.
The work of metrologists is so entrenched in everything we do and everything we use.
- Our cars need properly working gauges to run
- Medications have to meet standards to be effective
- The GPS technology in our smart phones to get us anywhere
World Metrology Day is a great opportunity for the metrology community to be recognized for their contributions. It is celebrated in 80 countries and is organized by the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM) and the International Organization of Legal Metrology (OIML).
