Calibration Manager Frequently Asked Questions - PDA

Q.
When I try to use Calibration Manager PDA, I receive a "Fatal Error" message. What do I do?
A. To use Calibration Manager PDA, you must first create a Task List in the main Calibration Manager program, then download the Task List to the PDA by performing a HotSync operation. If you still receive an error message after downloading a Task List, contact Technical Support.

Q. I'm performing a HotSync, but my Task List isn't being transferred to the PDA.
A. The Calman Conduit, which enables the transfer of files, may not be installed. When performing the HotSync operation, a progress window should be displayed on the PC and the PDA. At some point, it should say Synchronizing Calman Conduit. If this message is not displayed, perform the following steps to install the Calman Conduit:

  1. Locate the HotSync Manager icon in the system tray, next to your system clock. It is a red and blue circle.
  2. Click on the icon to display a menu, then select Exit to close the HotSync Manager.
  3. From the Start menu, select Programs, then Calibration Manager 3.0, then PDA Conduit Installation. The Conduit installer will launch.
  4. Click Next at the first two screens to begin installation. Click Finish to complete.
  5. From the Start menu, select Programs, then Palm Desktop, then HotSync Manager.

If you have already installed the Conduit and your Task List is still not being transferred, you may have done the installation with HotSync Manager open. It shouldn't be necessary to repeat the installation. Close and reopen HotSync Manager, and it should now recognize the Calman Conduit.

Q. I am not able to find the Create Ad Hoc History menu option in Calibration Manager PDA. Where did it go?
A. If you have enabled the Electronic Signature option for a Task List, the Create Ad Hoc History feature will be unavailable.

Q. Do I need to have the main Calibration Manager program open when I perform a HotSync, either to download a Task List or upload records from the PDA?
A. No, you do not need to have Calibration Manager open when performing a HotSync. PDA records are stored in a separate file until you decide to download them to the PDA or import them into your database. You do not have to perform a HotSync immediately after creating your Task List, nor do you need to immediately add records into the database after you upload them.
