Database Specialist

Blue Mountain Quality Resources has a new position for a full-time, mid-level, salaried Database Specialist.

  • Important part of software implementation team. Ensures the integrity and validity of our new customers’ critical data.
  • Uses current technologies of Oracle and SQL.

We have a new position for Database Specialist at our State College, PA location (relocation costs not covered) that possesses the traditional DBA skills as well as knowledge of T-SQL or PL-SQL.  Database Specialists have the valuable opportunity to consult with our Fortune 500 customers to plan for comprehensive, all-encompassing data services.

Duties will include data imports and migration, technical support, management of multiple on-going projects, sales support, direct participation in complex integrations, and enhancement of operations practices, proactive problem resolution, and on-call support.

The ideal candidate will possess a thorough knowledge of database design, tuning, and troubleshooting skills along with a strong understanding of the Windows operating system.

Essential Skills and Duties:

  • Develop data service plans and assist in projects for all new implementations based on user specifications.
  • Participate in enhancement of operations practices and proactive problem resolution.
  • Provide day- to-day technical assistance with data services
  • Track performance, utilization, platform growth, and adherence to service metrics
  • Provide and coordinate technical sales support relating to new opportunities
  • Ensure compliance with operations processes and policies.
  • Perform tasks with seldom supervision and infrequent instructions
  • Able to manage multiple, on-going projects.
  • Use independent judgment to make decisions in order to best serve customers' and BMQR's interests.
  • Use knowledge and problem-solving skills to assist customers and/or co-workers
  • Communicate with software developers, support specialists, internal services, software field engineers and/or project managers appropriately
  • Consult with customers and sales department to address customer needs
  • Use excellent communication skills to arrange, prepare and perform professional services and/or internal services.
  • Proficient in written and oral English

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:

  • 2 years of SQL database experience; writing/designing queries, functions, and procedures
  • Experience with: SQL Server 2000, SQL Server 2005, Oracle 9i, Oracle 10g,T-SQL and/or PL-SQL
  • Comfortable with various Windows Operating Systems
  • Must have strong hands-on technical skills and be able to work independently to solve technical issues.
  • Must be able to work in a team with technical support staff while maintaining a positive attitude and experience for customers.
  • Must be quick to learn new concepts and to adapt to a customer's needs
  • Must possess excellent written, verbal and technical support skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications in MCSE and Oracle
  • Degree in Computer Science or related discipline
